Not working, too...

Postby webcro » Wed Mar 10, 2010 10:57 pm

Sorry for the subject duplicate, I noticed the other "Not working" is idle and no clues so far...

Well, I'm not as much pretending about the component/plugin to be so "virtual" as to do not need a specific sub-domain created priorly. In fact, I do actually need the sub-domains in order to add-on the other web domains/urls. (I guess that was even the meaning of all this...)

OK now, com.mysite.us sub-domain is set and already propagated, as I intend to add-on the second domain (which is mysite.com) to the mentioned sub-domain com.mysite.us. Mention: no need for another template, just a certain menu option/page respectively...

Mysite.us stands for "Standard Domain" in the System - Virtualdomains plugin, and com.mysite.us is added in the VD component, same template, Published Yes, menu option selected.

Put in com.mysite.us in the browser's address selector, --nothing happens!

I've tryed different orders for the System plugins, --to no avail... All I get is "Index of..." as I don't even have a dummy index.htm in the mysite.us/com folder (folder assigned to the com.mysite.us sub-domain).

So, what's wrong, if you would genly please?
And btw, what's the use of the "Example Param" in the VD component's configuration?

Hello webcro!

VD- Support is really abstract. I think, you understood how the VD iss working. Please try this, i think that is your solution.
create a template for the subdomain "com.mysite.us":: in the template please make the following namspace für the template "placeholder/replacer" :
for Example
Code: Select all
<jdoc:include type="modules" name="top"/>
better write
<jdoc:include type="modules" name="subdomain_top"/>
in the templateDetail.xml for this template
Code: Select all
<positions>
         <position>subdomain_top</position>
         /** please delete we dont need this**/
         <position>top</position>
        <positions>

Step 1 is ready now we will go to step 2
log into your adminPanel create a menu(the primary Menu) for the subdomain, you also can "copy" it.
it ist important to set in the "module" for this menu the position to "subdomain_top".
now we go to VD and tell it that we use as "?startmenu?/?startposition?" the "subdomain_top".
now, i think it must work.

"Example Param" is an nice feature. You can extends your VD with some parameters you whant to set and get.
We have discussed on this side about some params.

By the way. If my post not working on your site, its better i have a look inside your space ICQ:591233102
good luck
